As early as 1928 A.P Møller established a cargo liner service under the name of Maersk Line. Today, Maersk Sealand is one of the largest liner shipping companies in the world serving customers all over the globe. We operate more than 250 container vessels and 700,000 containers of which more than 75,000 are reefer containers. With 325 of our own offices in more than 100 countries, we are able to give our customers up-to-the-minute information on markets halfway around the world. Advanced EDP systems ensure timely availability of cargo documents and provide our customers with accurate, online information on the position of any given cargo anywhere in the world. Particularly within the reefer segment a high level of expertise is essential, and in order to ensure that our customers' goods are treated in the most professional manner, Maersk Sealand has established a dedicated reefer organisation focusing on the transportation of perishable products Technical sales staff provide all the necessary assistance including recommended temperatures, the ideal stowage pattern and the optimum treatment of the products prior to shipment. Reefer technicians at the terminals and on board the vessels, ensures that the containers are supervised 24 hours a day. Maersk Sealand's reefer containers have been constructed with the most advanced specifications on the basis of extensive research programmes. Prior to delivery, the containers undergo rigorous testing and are subjected to extreme weather conditions ranging all the way from tropical to arctic.
